Unfortunately, it was virtually leveled during World War II but faithfully reconstructed in later years, showcasing iconic landmarks such as the Royal Castle, St. John's Archcathedral, and Sigismund's Column. The Old Town presents a meticulously reconstructed collection of Baroque and Renaissance architecture, complete with charming cobblestone streets and bustling squares. The Market Square, adorned with pastel-colored townhouses and the symbolic Warsaw Mermaid statue, serves as a central point for visitors exploring the area. Currently, the market hosts a Christmas Market and an ice rink set up around the Mermaid monument. The Old Town is also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The architecture of the old town, numerous lights, and Christmas decorations create a unique atmosphere. Unfortunately, there has been a thaw and the snow has melted in the pre-Christmas period, but despite that, the holiday spirit is still palpable. Zakopane is located in the Undertatras Trench, bordered to the north by the massif of Gubałowka, and to the south by the Tatra Mountains. The town has around 30 thousand residents, but during the peak season, it can host up to 250 thousand holidaymakers. But that's not all! The walk begins from the nearby Gubałówka mountain, offering a breathtaking panorama of Zakopane and the Tatra Mountains.
