Switzerland Walking Tour in 4k - SAAS-FEE

A Walking Tour through another mountain village, the well-known ski resort Saas-Fee in southern Switzerland, located in the canton of Valais, often referred to as the "Pearl of the Alps." Saas-Fee village is situated on a high-altitude plateau at an elevation of 1,800 meters above sea level in the Saas Valley. The village is surrounded by 13 peaks exceeding 4,000 meters, including the highest mountain in Switzerland, the Dom (Dom de Mischabel - 4,546 meters above sea level), as well as other notable peaks such as Nadelhorn (4,327 m), Lenzspitze (4,294 m), Alphubel (4,206 m), and Weissmies (4,023 m). Saas-Fee is one of nine Swiss villages where combustion engine vehicles are prohibited. Here, you will only encounter small electric delivery vehicles and minibuses. In summer, visitors can enjoy numerous one-day excursions as well as 350 kilometers of hiking trails and thematic routes. Of course, let’s not forget the friendliest residents of the village—the famous tame marmots. In winter, Saas-Fee offers excellent snow conditions and well-maintained slopes, making it a true paradise for skiers. The ski area boasts 150 kilometers of downhill runs of varying difficulty levels, with guaranteed snow—sometimes even in summer. The slopes are serviced by 22 lifts and cable cars, including the famous Alpine Metro, Metro Alpin, which takes visitors to the highest revolving restaurant in the world. The Saas Valley borders directly with Italy but is separated by a high mountain range. Therefore, there is no direct connection, except via hiking trails. This walk begins on the Spielboden forest trail, offering views of the surrounding mountain peaks and the village from above. Then, we will descend to the village center, stroll along Wang Street, admire old wooden stilt houses, and conclude the walk at Postplatz Square near the bus station.
