Slovakia Walking Tour in 4k - KOSICE - A Eastern Gem and Medieval City on the Hornád River!

Here is a walking tour of Kosice, one of the most beautiful cities in Slovakia, located in the eastern part of the country, on the Hornád River, surrounded by the picturesque hills of the Volovské Mountains, at an elevation of about 206 m above sea level, just 20 km from the Hungarian border and about 95 km from the Ukrainian border.

The city currently has around 225,000 inhabitants and is the second-largest urban center in the country. It is famous for its rich history dating back to the 13th century, the oldest municipal coat of arms in Europe, and the largest Gothic church in Slovakia – St. Elisabeth’s Cathedral. Košice enchants visitors with its historic old town, Art Nouveau tenement houses, numerous museums, theatres, and the unique atmosphere that was highlighted by the title of European Capital of Culture 2013. Kosice is a city where history meets modernity. The wealth of monuments, top-tier culture, and distinctive charm make every walk through its streets an unforgettable journey through time and a remarkable experience. We begin our walk at the railway and bus station, which also serves as a stop for city trams. Right next to it lies the City Park, where we can see, among others, the Plavajuca fountain, the Music Pavilion, and the Sandy City Park Resort villa. We then cross the Bridge of Love, from which there is a beautiful view of the stunning Jakabov Palace. We continue along Mlynská Street, passing the Evangelical Church, and then turn into the atmospheric Hrnčiarska Street. Here, we find the Reformed Church and a branch of the East Slovak Museum – Rodošto. Next, we enter the city’s main street – Hlavná. Here we can find St. Anthony of Padua Church, the charming Čermeľský Stream, the Fountain of Signs, and the most important landmarks such as: the National Theatre, the majestic St. Elisabeth’s Cathedral, St. Michael’s Chapel, and the historic Lower Gate. In the second part of the walk, we visit the western part of the old town – the Market at Dominican Square, the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God, a fragment of the defensive walls, and St. Michael the Archangel Church Ursulines. The walk ends near the Kosice City Office, at the main building of the East Slovak Museum. Enjoy the walking tour in 4K Ultra HD quality with captions!
