Zegiestow‑Zdroj, Poland - A Hidden Gem Between Mountains and Time

There are places that immediately impress with crowds, attractions, and noise — and then there are places like Żegiestów‑Zdrój. Quiet, almost hidden between the mountains of southern Poland and the Slovak border, this small spa village feels like a forgotten postcard slowly coming back to life. During our latest walking tour, we had the chance to explore its peaceful streets, historic buildings, and scenic mountain atmosphere in a way that felt both nostalgic and refreshing. Our journey began at the old railway station, one of the first symbols of the village’s fascinating history. Built in 1876 along the picturesque railway line running through the Poprad Valley, the station still carries the atmosphere of another era. Trains passing through Nowy Sącz, Muszyna, and Krynica‑Zdrój make this one of the most beautiful railway routes in Poland.
