Wysowa‑Zdroj, Poland - One of Poland’s Hidden Spa Gems
Nestled in the heart of the Low Beskids in southern Poland, just a short distance from the Slovak border, Wysowa-Zdrój is one of those places that quietly captivates visitors. Surrounded by forested hills and located in the picturesque valley of the Ropa River at an elevation of around 550 meters above sea level, this small spa village offers something increasingly rare in today's world – peace, fresh air, and a close connection with nature.
Our latest 4K walking tour, recorded in the spring of 2026, takes viewers on a relaxing journey through this charming health resort. While Wysowa-Zdrój may not be known for bustling tourist attractions or vibrant nightlife, it has long been valued for something far more enduring: its therapeutic mineral waters, healing brines, and peat treatments. For decades, visitors have come here seeking recovery, relaxation, and a slower pace of life.
Spring is perhaps the most beautiful time to visit. After the long winter, the village awakens with vibrant shades of green covering the surrounding forests and meadows. The air carries the scent of moist earth and fresh spring water, creating an atmosphere that encourages long walks and quiet reflection. With numerous hiking and cycling trails leading into the surrounding mountains, Wysowa-Zdrój serves as an excellent base for exploring the natural beauty of the Low Beskids.
Our walk begins in a small square near the famous Wysowianka Mineral Water Bottling Plant, where various natural mineral and medicinal waters are extracted and bottled. From there, we continue along the main promenade through the Spa Park, the heart of the village. One of the first landmarks encountered is the Graduation Tower, where brine flows down wooden walls, creating a mineral-rich aerosol similar to sea air and known for its beneficial effects on the respiratory system.Further along the route stands the historic Old Spa House, a building with over a century of history that reflects the long spa tradition of Wysowa-Zdrój. Nearby, visitors can find the beautifully reconstructed Mineral Water Pump Room, where several local mineral waters can be sampled directly from the source. Rich in valuable minerals such as iodine, calcium, and magnesium, these waters have become one of the village's defining attractions.
The tour then leads to the upper part of Wysowa-Zdrój, passing the modern Water Park, a year-round recreational and rehabilitation facility offering pools, saunas, and wellness amenities. Finally, we arrive at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord, a peaceful place that marks the end of our walk.
Beyond the village itself, the region offers many additional attractions, including wooden churches along the Wooden Architecture Route, horse-riding centers, scenic mountain trails, and the nearby Jawor Mountain with its famous chapel and healing spring. Overlooking the village from the surrounding hills is the Biawena Spa Resort, where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Beskid peaks and experience complete relaxation.
Whether you are planning a future visit or simply looking to enjoy a peaceful virtual escape, this walking tour reveals why Wysowa-Zdrój remains one of the most charming and underrated spa destinations in Poland.
