Slovakia Walking Tour in 4K - BARDEJOV Old Town 2023

 


Bardejov, one of the oldest towns in Slovakia, is listed on UNESCO's World Heritage List. The charming town of Bardejov is situated in a beautiful surrounding landscape with plenty of tourist attractions.

The town's center comprises a complex of historical buildings surrounding the almost parallel series of city walls. At the heart of the town square stands the former town hall, now an exhibition center. The most prominent landmark is the St. Egidius Basilica, which began construction in the early 15th century and is a stunning Gothic basilica with three naves. The basilica houses a set of 11 late-Gothic winged altars with sculptures considered the most valuable in Europe. The Franciscan Monastery and Church, located near the city walls, are also worth a visit. The town's historical center is part of the urban conservation area and includes well-preserved medieval defense walls, three gates, and ten bastions. The walking tour was recorded in Bardejov in February 2023.

The development of the market square is an example of medieval architecture. Until 1795, the town hall stood on the market square, but it burned down and was never rebuilt. On the commons in Stary Sącz there is an altar built on the occasion of the visit of Pope John Paul II. During the mass celebrated on June 16, 1999, the pope canonized Saint Kinga.
