According to the 2021 census, Duba Pelješka had just 29 residents. More visitors arrive in summer, when private apartments welcome holidaymakers, yet the village remains peaceful and full of charm. Local life is linked to fishing, tourism, and growing olives and grapes.

Wander Through Old Dalmatia

The walk leads into the settlement’s oldest part, where traditional stone houses and narrow lanes blend into the hillside. Mediterranean vegetation covers the slopes. The old village sits above the Adriatic shoreline and small harbour—a position that offered protection from storms and views over the bay.

Along the way, we visit the Church of St. Anthony (Crkva sv. Ante). Dedicated around 1921, it remains an important place of worship. Each year on 13 June, the village celebrates St. Anthony’s feast day with a traditional procession. The church roof and its century-old statue were restored in 2023.

Listen closely: the church bell and the chorus of cicadas create a memorable moment of calm. The route continues past olive groves and the local cemetery, reached by a charming concrete path lined with cypress trees, before heading towards the harbour.

The quiet harbour offers a glimpse of everyday life on the peninsula. Nearby, Duba Beach is a lovely spot to enjoy the coast. A little farther away, Divna Beach is considered one of Pelješac’s most beautiful beaches and attracts visitors every year.
